Austrian Pumptrack Series

Client: Austrian Pumptrack Series / Alliance

Location: Leibnitz, Austria

Year: 2025

Fast laps, dusty corners, and riders pushing for milliseconds: the Austrian Pumptrack Series has become one of the most exciting cycling events in Austria to watch. Also, it is ideal to gain some racing experience with little to no threshhold. This stop at the Pumptrack Leibnitz-Wagna in Styria brought together BMX and mountain bike riders of all ages for a day built around speed, progression and community.

Organized together with the local Alpenverein Leibnitz, the event highlighted how strongly the Austrian pumptrack scene has grown in recent years. Young kids lined up next to experienced racers, spectators gathered around the track, and the atmosphere felt closer to a community festival than a traditional cycling competition.

The format itself is simple but demanding: (ideally) no pedaling, no motors—just rhythm, technique and momentum. Riders generate speed by pumping through rollers, berms and tight corners, fighting for the fastest lap times on short but physically intense tracks - for context: a race run is about 10-13 seconds among the fastest on course. Between official runs, the track stayed busy with practice laps, coaching by Bike School Pekoll, and the infamous Lines style contest.

Supported by partners and sponsors including Suspension Labs, SG Toolbox, and regional organizations, the event showed how accessible and inclusive modern cycling culture in Austria has become. The Austrian Pumptrack Series is not only about competition—it is about creating places where riders of all ages can progress, connect and simply enjoy riding bikes together.
